How serious is uttering threats?

Like all crimes, Alberta’s courts and prosecutors take uttering threats seriously. Interestingly, uttering threats is under the “Assaults” section of the Criminal Code, and can be considered a violent offence.

Sentences for uttering threats can be as high as years in jail, although they are often much lower.
