Can't Beat Calgary Defence Clients
There's a reason I do what I do (that is, criminal defence law), and a reason I do it where I do it (Calgary and the surrounding area, for those who haven't been paying attention). Those reasons are one and the same: my clients.
It might sound corny, it might sound cliché, but it's the truth. My clients in and around Calgary are what makes it worth coming into the office every day, and worth reading recent decisions and law journal articles every night. I enjoy learning about and working with the law, it's true, but if that was enough to keep me going I could easily be a professor.
That's not the path for me.
Instead, I enjoy that I am constantly meeting the people of the greater Calgary area, learning about their lives and the way they see our city and our country, is a huge reason I chose my current profession. I enjoy helping people understand a criminal justice system that can often seem overwhelming and impersonal, and I enjoy giving them a friendly and familiar face to tell their troubles to while we come to know and understand each other.
The fact that I get to help them out in what are often some of the most stressful and difficult periods of their lives is just an added bonus.
I'll stop waxing philosophic before I make myself all misty-eyed and launch into "O, Canada." But if you need me, Calgary, I'll be here and ready to lend an ear.
